Are you an elite Software Engineering Manager eager to gain unprecedented visibility to the top technology companies throughout the globe?

Do you want to employ your technical and managerial skills to oversee cutting-edge software in a high-intensity environment?

Are you interested in earning $100,000 USD per year while working from virtually anywhere on the planet?

If you said yes to any of the questions above, this role is for you.

What are the expectations?

The Software Engineering Manager role is one of the most critical in any organization and requires both a mastery of the technical skills associated with the projects at hand, as well as the managerial ability to motivate, build, and lead your team.

Specifically, you will be responsible for leading 4 to 6 teams of software engineers as they develop next generation products. Under your leadership, we expect to see consistent improvement in both static code quality metrics and weekly production.

You will be taught our Crossover management playbooks and you will own the process of breaking specifications created by the product management team into clear tasks and timelines, as well as assembling the results into high value, reusable components.

The position is a hands-on leadership role. You will need a startup mindset, wearing multiple hats from CTO to lead architect on the most complex elements of the product.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Agile, SDLC, or SLA

  • Deep understanding of a wide range of the latest technologies and architectural approaches

  • Advanced proficiency in one or more core programming languages (Java or C# or Ruby or PHP), related frameworks, and best practices

  • The ability to make appropriate technical decisions, review design and code, and ensure best technical practices

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

  • Proven managerial skills with at least 5 years of experience managing multiple teams

  • Experience with Cloud architecture and DevOps

  • At least 5 years of experience in hands-on Java and/or .NET programming and/or Ruby and/ or PHP

HOW DO I APPLY?

Step 1: Online Application

Crossover has open positions demanded by our customers at all times.  You will start your application by hitting the 'Apply Now' button then uploading your resume and confirming your email address.  From there - the Crossover platform will guide you through the remaining steps.

Step 2: Take the Fundamentals Test

The first test is a 'Fundamentals' test.  This is a multiple-choice test to check for baseline skills needed for the role.  The test typically takes applicants 20-30 mins to complete.  You will receive your score via email within an hour.  Passers will receive an email invitation to the next step in the application process.

Step 3: Implement the Tech Trial Project

The second test is a significantly more difficult and lengthy step - typically taking candidates 8-10 hours.  In this step, we're going to give you a specific technical scenario that will be similar to something you may encounter in the role.  Though the scenarios are not real work products - we will be able to see which candidates are truly the top 1% and have put in the effort to standout amongst their peers.  You will also be asked to make a technical presentation to demonstrate your communication skills.

All the applications are being evaluated by full time Crossover software architects.  And you'll receive an extensive report after this test, even if you fail, so you'll know what skills to work on.

Step 4: Join the Interview

This is the final step of the technical evaluation. One of our architects from evaluation team will speak with you via Skype to understand if you're the best-fit for the position. They're going to ask you technical and business questions on your current and previous roles, ask you about the decisions you made for your Tech Trial deliverable and ask you about the presentation you developed. Being self confident and describing achievements in your career is very critical.

Step 5: Meet the customer hiring manager and get hired

After you've passed our Crossover screens and we've concluded you are the top 1% of talent - you will then be introduced to several potential hiring managers.  This is intended to be a two-way discussion where you can ask questions about the team, product, metrics, etc.  The hiring manager will be looking to  evaluate you for fit within the company and team.  You can interview with as many hiring managers as desired and make the decision on which company or team best fits your interests and career desires.
